Indigo Endai Bench
Lola Lely Studio
Endai Bench in Indigo by Lola Lely is inspired by the traditional benches often positioned outside old Japanese houses and temples.
Indigo Endai Bench by furniture maker Lola Lely. A modern interpretation of an 'Endai', which means 'bench' in Japanese. A typical 'Endai' is constructed from solid wood, using dowels as a means of joinery. From the late Edo period onwards, while the Japanese would traditionally sat on tatami-padded floors while inside the house, they would use an endai outside.
